Abstract

Objective: to analyse the effectiveness of mindfulness techniques on stress and associated symptoms in emergency department staff. Material and methods: to carry out this scoping review, health sciences databases (PubMed, Sage Journals, Science Direct, Scopus) were consulted with a search string adjusted to each type of database. All articles with sufficient scientific evidence were included, excluding studies older than five years, grey literature, etc. Results: 15 articles dealing with mindfulness in healthcare staff were included. As for current evidence, the studies show a considerable improvement in symptoms related to work-related stress, with mobile applications standing out among the different methods used. Conclusions and recommendations: there is a clear lack of research, also in Spain, on the topic of mindfulness in the healthcare workforce, and it could have positive long-term consequences for patient care.
