Introduction: to assess psychosocial risk, coping style, risk profile and the association between infections and type of contract among nursing professionals in hospital emergency and psychiatry services. Material and method: an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study using the Psychosocial Risk Questionnaire (CoPSoQ-istas21 version 2), the Coping Questionnaire (COPE-28) and occupational variables in the nursing professionals of the Hospital Emergency and Psychiatry Services of the Infanta Sofía University Hospital. Results: the sample (n) comprised 51 professionals (n = 36 nurses, n = 15 nursing assistants). 60.0% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 54.10-67.90) identified unfavourable situations in their work environment, mainly due to care pressure —a heavy workload and little time.
