Abstract

Neurodiversity is a relatively new concept that redefines the way we understand differences in human brain functioning, which give rise to various ways of processing information, learning, behaving, and perceiving reality.

It is based on the fact that accepting and understanding neurodivergence not only benefits those who are part of this diversity, but also enriches society as a whole. This term encompasses a variety of neurological conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette syndrome, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, among others.

In this sense, neurodivergent talent represents a potential that most companies seem largely unaware of. It is only a matter of time before brains with alternative neural wiring find the place they rightfully deserve in workplaces that are currently poorly or not at all inclusive. Change has begun to be felt slowly but steadily, and little by little, qualities and strengths typically associated with neurodivergence are starting to be valued.
