Abstract

Introduction: the aim of this study was to analyse the reliability and validity of the Positive Mental Health Questionnaire (PMHQ) in a sample of university nursing lecturers in Catalonia. Method: a cross-sectional study was carried out in 263 university lecturers from the different nursing schools or faculties of Catalonia. The reliability of the PMHQ was analysed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. For the analysis of convergent and discriminant validity, the correlation coefficients between factors and with the total questionnaire score were obtained. Discriminant validity was also analysed using the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12), which assesses the psychological distress experienced during the 30 days prior to the moment of assessment. Results: the PMHQ has demonstrated good internal consistency, and convergent and discriminant validity have been satisfactory. Conclusions: this questionnaire is valid and reliable for assessing positive mental health in university nursing lecturers.
